SPIRITS OF JAPAN is not a shop and not a ranking site. It is an archive that records sake, Japanese wine, craft beer, Japanese whisky, shochu and awamori — each as its own culture — through land, water, ingredients, makers, craft and history.
On the name
"Spirits" here means the spirit of places and makers, not only distilled spirits. Within the archive, brewed and distilled drinks are always kept distinct.
How we record
Nothing unverifiable is shown. Every fact carries a source and every image its own rights record. See Sources and Image Credits.
What's next
The archive is designed to grow to producers in all 47 prefectures, thousands of drinks and vintages, and editions in French, German, Italian, Spanish, Chinese and Korean.
