What makes a Japanese Whisky?

In 2021 the Japan Spirits & Liqueurs Makers Association brought a labeling standard for "Japanese Whisky" into effect.
The core of the standard
Malted grain (mandatory), other cereals and water drawn in Japan; mashing, fermentation and distillation at a distillery in Japan; at least three years in wooden casks of 700 L or less in Japan; bottled in Japan at 40% ABV or more.
How this archive applies it
Nothing is classed as Japanese Whisky merely for being made or bottled in Japan. Each product records its labeling standard, source and verification date.
